Summary: The Special Ed Resource paraprofessional assists with students needing additional assistance including reinforcing learning, assists with behavioral needs and overall supporting those students 



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide academic support and supervision for special needs students
  • Work one-on-one with students, attend workshops led by experts, and contribute to meetings to identify appropriate student goals 
  • Assist with classroom preparation, take reasonable precautions to protect students, and implement instructional support for students with disabilities
  • Assist students with special needs
  • Care for the students' physical and emotional health
  • Behavior support which may include physical management (training available)
  • Assist in small or large group student instruction under teacher direction
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualification Requirements:

Education and/or Experience:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED

 

Preferred:

  • Additional training and/or education

 

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret communication including emails, letters, spreadsheet and forms  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from the community, regulatory agencies or staff members

 

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate basic mathematical formulas; add and subtract totals; multiply and divide; determine percentages and decimals; spatial aptitude to inspect length and weight of objects 

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
