Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning:
- Understand the Michigan Academic Standards, Benchmarks, and Grade Level Content Expectations.
- Establish clear learning targets and lesson plans for every lesson to promote student growth.
- Build rigorous and aligned assessments and consistently implement instructional best practices.
Classroom Culture:
- Positive relationships are evident, procedures are clea. Student and teacher interactions promote a growth mindset and student-leaders are cultivated.
- Family and Community:
- Consistently develop strong relationships with students’ families while diligently informing parents of expectations, positive news, and/or concerns about their children.
Professional Responsibilities:
- Actively participate in professional learning communities (PLCs) with colleagues to improve teaching and student learning. Reflect on instruction and leadership while contributing ideas, expertise, and time to the mission and goals of the school.
Teacher of this Room:
- May consult with staff on behalf of the students.
- May provide direct instruction to the students up to full time in special education setting.
- May provide direct instruction to the students with disabilities in either a general education or special education setting.
- Must have the ability to address the goals and objectives for all students assigned to caseload.
- Must possess a special education edorsement in any area.
Students of the Room:
- Will exhibit a need for ongoing support across environments, based on individual student needs and goals identified by the IEP team and may benefit from this level of programming.
- May need behavioral accommodations or supports
- May follow general education curriculum with accommodations or modifications and/or a board approved functional (alternative) curriculum as determined by the IEP team.
- May take state and district assessments with accommodations and/or alternative assessments as determined by the IEP team.
- May receive either a regular diploma or certificate of completion.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Education and Experience:
- Committed to high academic achievement, and high expectations for all students.
- Able to be a positive team player and communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, students, and families.
- Open to being coached and receiving feedback to advance learning and growth for students.
- Professional with high personal standards and integrity.
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited College or University or be upcoming graduates in an accredited teacher preparation program. If you hold a teaching license in another state, you must apply for a Michigan teaching license.
- Meet Michigan Teaching Certification Requirements.
- Meet all state and federal requirements.

Compensation
Salary is based on education and experience as per contract.
