Special Education Resource Room Teacher

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the principal and the special education supervisor, the teacher will be working with middle school special education students to achieve excellence.  

Qualifications:

Required:

1. Minimum of BS/BA degree in Education
2. Possess or be eligible for a valid Michigan teaching certificate as a secondary teacher with endorsements in Special Education Cognitive Impairment
3. Meet all the requirements as a highly qualified teacher 
4. Able to assess and document student progress
5. Professional in personal conduct and actions
6. Excellent communication skills
7. Meets federal Every Student Succeeds Act requirement

Desired Characteristics:

1. Experience in working with secondary students
2. Experience using technology as an instructional tool in the classroom
3. Experience in working within a Professional Learning Community using data to drive instruction
4. Knowledge of Google Workspace applications
5. Successful teaching of special education students

Duties:

1. Provide instruction to secondary students
2. Provide and maintain an orderly classroom environment
3. Monitor and document student progress through Power School IEP program
4. Work independently and cooperatively using a variety of instructional strategies
5. Ability to plan and organize; excellent work habits
6. Willing to attend conferences and participate in professional development
7. Perform other duties as assigned by Administration
