Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at Grayson County SSA. This full-time position is designed for an individual who is committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for students with diverse learning needs. The ideal candidate will possess the skills to adapt curriculum and teaching methods to meet the unique requirements of each student, ensuring that all learners can achieve their fullest potential.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the specific needs of each student.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to create a cohesive educational experience.
- Assess students' progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly to promote academic and social growth.
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources to engage students and facilitate effective learning.
- Provide direct instruction in academic subjects, life skills, and social skills.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, behavior, and progress toward IEP goals.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of educational programs.
- Foster a positive classroom environment that encourages respect, empathy, and inclusivity.
- Stay current with best practices in special education and participate in professional development opportunities.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and any concerns that may arise.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid state teaching certification in Special Education.
- Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting.
- Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and community resources.
- Knowledge of various teaching methodologies and instructional strategies.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed.
- Proficiency in using technology and educational software.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying informed about current trends in special education.
