Special Education Teacher - West Side Academy Teacher
West Springfield High School
West Side Academy is a Therapeutic Day School that is part of West Springfield High School. We are looking for a teacher with experience teaching students with Social Emotional and Behavioral difficulties. The West Side Academy teacher will provide substantially separate instruction in a small-therapeutic setting.
Duties:
-Plan and deliver differentiated, standards-aligned instruction in mathematics to meet individual student needs
-Provide individualized and small-group instruction in a therapeutic classroom environment
-Use academic assessment data to inform instruction and monitor progress toward IEP goals
-Demonstrates experience using de-escalation strategies this bullet
-Attend IEP meetings and develop, implement, and monitor IEPs for students in the program
-Implement, monitor, and adjust instructional and behavioral strategies to support student growth
-Provide trauma-informed instruction and support
-Maintain a safe, structured, and predictable classroom environment that promotes academic and social growth
-Support students in developing emotional regulation, coping skills, and social awareness
-Monitor, implement, and contribute to the development of behavior support plans
-Consult and collaborate with families/guardians and coordinate with home-based and wraparound service providers
-Use PBIS strategies to reinforce positive behavior, teach expectations, and support skill development
-Collaborate with clinical and behavioral staff to implement and monitor behavior support plans
-Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Valid Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) certification in Moderate Special Needs.
Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Endorsement.
Schedule: Full-time, Mon-Fri, 35 hours per week. This position is for 10 months, during the school year.
Salary: Per Unit A contract (salary range:$52,368 - $97,192)
