Special Education Teacher

Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at Penn's Grove Middle School. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with students with diverse learning needs, providing individualized support and fostering an inclusive classroom environment. This role requires a commitment to helping students achieve their academic and social potential while promoting their independence and self-advocacy skills.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and parents to create a supportive learning environment.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies to ensure academic success.
- Provide direct instruction in academic subjects, social skills, and life skills to students with disabilities.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, behavior, and progress towards IEP goals.
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of appropriate educational strategies.
- Create a positive and engaging classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation and motivation.
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources to accommodate different learning styles.
- Provide support and training to paraprofessionals and other staff working with students with disabilities.
- Stay current with best practices in special education and participate in ongoing professional development.

Requirements
- Valid PA teaching certification in Special Education.
- Experience working with students with disabilities in a school setting.
- Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to create and implement engaging lesson plans that meet the needs of all students.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance learning.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
