Special Education Teacher 

Inova Kellar School Fairfax is looking for a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join the team. The Special Education Teacher works within a defined schedule during a 10.5-month academic year. All hours and job duties are applicable to 10.5 months. This role will be full-time night shift from Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Special Education Teacher Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that student progress is measured by written and alternate response modes (i.e. tests, quizzes, homework, class participation, reports and projects).        
  • Ensures that the quality of documentation reflects progress on IEP goals and objectives in a timely, professional and informative manner.        
  • Formulates mutually agreed-upon IEP goals and objectives with clients by utilizing all available resources.                
  • Uses pre-assessment data to develop expectations for students to differentiate instructions and to document learning.                
  • Establishes clear expectations, with student input, for classroom guidelines and procedures early in the school year and enforces them and the school-wide behavior management protocol consistently and fairly.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field
  • Experience: One year of professional experience in a school setting.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation- Within 3 months
  • Licensure: Within 6 Months “Must hold or be eligible to hold a Collegiate Professional License, or Postgraduate professional license or provisional license with the Department of Education, Commonwealth of Virginia”
