ACES Chase Academy, a Magnet Schools of America national school of excellence, is seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs in both co-teaching and resource room settings. The Special Education Teacher will work collaboratively with general education teachers, and support staff and families to ensure that all students have access to a high-quality education that meets their individual needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Co-Teaching:
    • Partner with general education teachers to plan and deliver differentiated instruction in inclusive classrooms.
    • Adapt and modify curriculum to meet the needs of students with varying abilities.
    • Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) within the co-teaching environment.
    • Utilize a variety of teaching strategies to engage all learners.
  2. Resource Room:
    • Provide targeted instruction and interventions in a small group or one-on-one setting.
    • Develop and implement specialized instructional programs to address specific learning and behavioral needs.
    • Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as necessary.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance and progress.
  3. Individualized Education Plans (IEPs):
    • Develop, review, and update IEPs in collaboration with parents, general education teachers, and other support staff.
    • Ensure compliance with state and federal special education laws and regulations.
    • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of educational goals and objectives for students.
  4. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with general education teachers, administrators, and other support staff to support student success.
    • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress and discuss strategies for supporting learning at home.
    • Collaborate with outside agencies and professionals as needed to support student needs.
  5. Professional Development:
    • Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education.
    • Engage in reflective practice to continuously improve teaching effectiveness.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Comprehensive Special Education, PreK–12 (165) Connecticut certification.
  • Experience working with students with diverse learning needs in a mainstream education setting.
  • Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
