Position Overview

BEAM is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher. This position supports students in a Moderate/Severe special education classroom, providing both instructional and behavioral support in collaboration with district staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized academic instruction to students with moderate to severe disabilities
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Implement and support behavior intervention plans (BIPs) using evidence-based practices
  • Collaborate with paraprofessionals, behavior specialists, related service providers, and school administrators
  • Collect and analyze student data to monitor progress and adjust instruction
  • Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with IDEA, state, and district requirements
  • Participate in IEP meetings, team meetings, and professional development
  • Create a structured, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment

Qualifications

  • Valid Special Education Teaching Credential (Moderate/Severe or equivalent)
  • Experience working with students with significant behavioral, emotional, and/or developmental needs
  • Strong classroom management and collaboration skills
  • Knowledge of behavior intervention strategies (ABA principles preferred)
  • School-based experience preferred

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with data-driven instruction and progress monitoring
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
