Summary
The Oakville School District is seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher/Behavior Program Lead to join our team starting our 2026/2027 school year. This full-time position is designed for an individual who is committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment for students with diverse needs. The ideal candidate will have experience in special education and behavior management, along with a strong ability to collaborate with staff, families, and community resources to support student success.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the behavior program, implementing evidence-based strategies to support students with behavioral challenges.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and support staff to create a cohesive learning environment that meets the needs of all students.
- Conduct assessments and evaluations to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress and address any concerns.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student performance, behavior, and interventions.
- Stay current with developments in special education and behavior management through professional development and continued education.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom culture that encourages student engagement and social-emotional growth.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education; Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid state teaching certification in Special Education.
- Expertise: Deep understanding of IDEA and WAC regarding discipline and restraint/isolation.
- Strong knowledge of IEP development, behavior management strategies, and special education laws.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Proven ability to create and implement individualized instructional strategies that promote student success.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
- Resilience: The ability to stay regulated, professional, and empathetic during high-stress behavioral crises.
