    Qualifications: 
    The Coles Program seeks a highly qualified Special Education Teacher to provide instruction in one or more secondary content areas (including Mathematics, Science, or Social Studies) to students with disabilities. 

    NJ Teacher of the Handicapped Certification preferred
    OR 
    NJ Teacher of Students with Disabilities Certification with appropriate content-area certification

    Specific Skills Required
    Valid New Jersey Teacher of Students with Disabilities Certification or Teacher of the Handicapped Certification
    New Jersey instructional certification in Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, or another secondary content area
    Ability to provide instruction in the assigned content area while supporting students with diverse learning, behavioral, and social-emotional needs
    Knowledge of IEP development, implementation, accommodations, modifications, and progress monitoring
    Ability to differentiate instruction and utilize evidence-based instructional practices
    Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills
    Ability to collaborate effectively with administrators, counselors, case managers, child study team members, and families
    Experience utilizing student data to inform instructional decisions

    Specific Skills Preferred
    Teacher of the Handicapped certification preferred
    Experience teaching students in alternative education, therapeutic, or special education settings
    Experience teaching Mathematics, Science, or Social Studies at the secondary level
    Knowledge of restorative practices, trauma-informed instruction, and social-emotional learning
    Experience working with students requiring behavioral, emotional, and academic interventions
    Familiarity with transition planning, career readiness, and post-secondary planning

    Additional Responsibilities
    Participate in IEP meetings, annual reviews, and manifestation determination meetings
    Collaborate with staff to support student academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth
    Assist with school-wide initiatives, student supervision, and program activities
    Participate in professional development, department meetings, and multidisciplinary team meetings
    Support the implementation of individualized student interventions and transition planning

    Extra duties as assigned by the building Principal 
    Salary: $60,653 - $115,891 per year. Final compensation will be based on experience and qualifications 
    Full-time staff are eligible for Medical, Prescription, and Dental Benefits. Sick, Personal and Bereavement Days are included 


    All alternate route candidates ("Certificate of Eligibility) must show completion of 50 hours of pre-service training through a DOE approved CE educator program prior to being interviewed for a position. The certificate of completion must be uploaded into the AppliTrack portal in order for alternate route candidates to be considered.
