Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at Alcona Middle/High School. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment that meets the diverse needs of students with disabilities. This full-time position requires collaboration with general education teachers, parents, and support staff to create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that promote academic and social success for all students.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt lesson plans and instructional strategies to accommodate students with special needs.
- Conduct assessments and evaluations to monitor student progress and adjust educational strategies accordingly.
- Provide direct instruction in academic and life skills to students with disabilities in a supportive and engaging manner.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance, progress, and IEP documentation.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, challenges, and achievements.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student needs and coordinate services.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
- Stay informed about current trends, best practices, and legal requirements in special education.
- Attend professional development workshops and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education.
- Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with students, parents, and staff.
- Ability to create a supportive and engaging learning environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with educational practices.
- Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance instruction and student learning.
