Summary
Crabbe Elementary School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. This full-time position involves working with students who have diverse learning needs and disabilities, providing individualized instruction and support to help them achieve their academic and social goals. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment, collaborating with educators, families, and community resources to ensure the success of every student.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student.
- Provide direct instruction and support in academic subjects, life skills, and social-emotional learning.
- Monitor and assess student progress, adapting teaching methods and strategies as necessary.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and support staff to create an inclusive classroom environment.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians, providing updates on student progress and addressing any concerns.
- Participate in IEP meetings, contributing insights and recommendations to support student success.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, behavior, and progress in accordance with school policies and state regulations.
- Stay current with best practices in special education and participate in ongoing professional development.
- Advocate for students' needs and rights within the school community and with external partners.
- Foster a positive and respectful classroom culture that encourages student engagement and self-advocacy.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid state certification in Special Education.
- Experience working with students with disabilities in a classroom setting.
- Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and community resources.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
