    Position Overview:

    We are seeking a  dedicated and skilled Special Education Teacher to lead a specialized multigrade elementary Language Learning Disabilities (LLD) classroom. This program serves students with learning, behavioral, and communication needs in a public school setting. The teacher will be responsible for delivering individualized instruction, implementing behavior supports, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure student success in a structured and supportive environment.

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) aligned with student needs
    • Deliver differentiated instruction in academics, communication, and social-emotional skills
    • Design and implement positive behavior support plans and classroom management systems
    • Utilize evidence-based practices (e.g., ABA-informed strategies, structured teaching, visual supports, AAC)
    • Collect and analyze student data to inform instruction and monitor progress
    • Collaborate with related service providers and support staff
    • Supervise and support paraprofessionals, including 1:1 aides
    • Maintain compliance with all special education regulations, documentation, and timelines
    • Foster a safe, inclusive, and structured classroom environment
    • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and needs

     

    Qualifications:

    • Valid Special Education Teaching Certification (required)
    • Experience working with students with autism and significant behavioral needs strongly preferred
    • Knowledge of behavior intervention strategies and crisis prevention/de-escalation techniques
    • Experience with AAC and language development strategies preferred
    • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
    • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team-based model
