The William H. Lincoln School anticipates a vacancy for a special education teacher working primarily with 2nd grade students. The position will begin on approximately March 6, 2026 running through the end of this school year.

Job Description: The special education student will work with a caseload of approximately 10 students will receive a significant amount of instruction in small group settings, while others will spend most or all of their day in the general education setting.

 

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Planning and providing small group, specialized instruction in a range of areas, including reading, writing, and math. Please note that reading services will include systematic instruction in decoding.
  • Working with general education teachers to ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications are provided in the general education setting.
  • Working directly with students in the general education setting.
  • Fostering strong home/school communication. Conducting academic testing for initial evaluations and reevaluations.
  • Writing IEPs (for annual reviews, initial evaluations and reevaluations).
  • Present evaluation reports and findings in IEP meetings.
  • Writing and presenting progress reports.

 

Requirements Qualifications: Mass DESE certification in mild/moderate special needs Preferred Qualifications: Certification in a systematic phonemic approach to reading instruction preferred.
