Weeping Water Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and student-centered 6–12 Special Education Teacher to join our team. We are a close-knit rural district committed to academic excellence, strong community partnerships, and meeting the diverse needs of every learner.
The 6–12 Special Education Teacher provides individualized instruction and support to students with disabilities in accordance with state and federal regulations. This position involves collaboration with general education teachers, families, and support staff to ensure students receive appropriate services and make meaningful academic and behavioral progress.
Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with IDEA and Nebraska Department of Education guidelines.
Provide direct instruction and specialized support in both inclusive and pull-out settings.
Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals.
Collaborate with general education teachers to provide accommodations, modifications, and co-teaching support.
Conduct assessments and assist with eligibility determination processes.
Maintain accurate records and complete required documentation in a timely manner.
Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and needs.
Participate in professional learning, MTSS processes, and school improvement initiatives.
Foster a positive, structured, and supportive learning environment.
Valid Nebraska teaching certificate with appropriate Special Education endorsement.
Knowledge of IDEA, Rule 51, and special education compliance requirements.
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
Experience in a K–12 setting preferred but not required.
