Park Rapids High School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at the High School. This full-time position is focused on creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with a content focus on Academic Behavioral Strategy or Learning Disability. The candidate should be licensed with PELSB with a Special Education teaching license, ABS or LD preferred, but will accept ASD, DCD, or EBD. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering the academic, social, and emotional development of each student while collaborating with families, staff, and external specialists.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of students with ASD.
- Create a structured and engaging classroom environment that promotes learning and positive behavior.
- Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies and interventions to support student learning and development.
- Assess and monitor student progress, adjusting teaching methods and strategies as needed.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure the successful integration of students into the classroom.
- Provide direct instruction in academic subjects, social skills, and life skills.
- Facilitate communication and social interactions among students to enhance peer relationships.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance, behavior, and progress.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in special education and ASD.
- Advocate for students' needs within the school and community, fostering a positive and inclusive environment.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid state teaching certification in Special Education with an endorsement in Autism Spectrum Disorder or other related fields.
- Experience working with students with ASD in an educational setting is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of educators, specialists, and families.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with children with special needs.
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques and strategies for supporting students with ASD.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices in special education.

- Must pass a background check as required by school district policies.
