Job Description

As a Special Education Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and implementing developmentally appropriate classroom activities in an innovative educational setting serving preschool and elementary aged students with intellectual disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a collaborative leader of the classroom team providing instruction in a variety of settings.
  • Use effective instructional techniques customized to individual student’s goals and objectives.
  • Effectively organize the classroom environment, instructional materials, and schedule to match and maximize learning.
  • Develop and implement goals and objectives for each child.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Certified Special Education Teacher titles require Master’s Degree in Special Education or Early Childhood Education and New York State Certification in Special Education grades B-2
  • Teacher Trainee / Study Plan Teacher titles require a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and enrollment in a Special Education Master’s program leading to New York State teacher certification, or an equivalent combination of education and certification.
