SUMMARY
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at White Pine Middle School. The ideal candidate will provide individualized support and instruction to students with diverse learning needs in a resource room setting. This full-time position requires a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment that promotes academic success and social-emotional growth for all students.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique needs and goals.
- Provide direct instruction in academic subjects, life skills, and social skills to students with varying disabilities.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet the needs of students in inclusive classrooms.
- Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting teaching methods and IEPs as necessary to ensure academic and behavioral success.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance, attendance, and IEP documentation.
- Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders regarding student progress and needs.
- Create a positive and structured classroom environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student progress and collaborate on interventions and support strategies.
- Stay current with best practices in special education and participate in ongoing professional development.
- Foster a culture of respect, empathy, and understanding within the classroom and school community.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid state teaching certification in Special Education.
- Experience working with high school students with disabilities, preferably in a resource room setting.
- Strong knowledge of IEP development and implementation, as well as state and federal special education laws.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to changing needs and priorities.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Passion for supporting students with diverse learning needs and a commitment to fostering an inclusive educational environment.
- Proficiency in technology and educational software to enhance student learning and communication.
