Champion Every Learner. Empower Every Voice.

At Northeast College Prep, we believe that all studentsincluding those with disabilitiesdeserve a learning environment where their strengths are seen, their needs are supported, and their potential is fully realized.

We're looking for a Special Education Teacher - Setting 3 who brings skill, heart, and determination to their work every day. In this K8 role, you'll support a caseload of about 510 students, with a strong team at your side: a full-time Special Education Coordinator, behavior support staff, and colleagues who believe in shared success.

You'll teach, plan, assess, write IEPs, collaborate with general education teachers, andmost importantlybuild the kind of relationships that help students grow both academically and emotionally.

If you believe that disability is not a limitation on potential and you're ready to bring both structure and joy to your work, this role is for you.

    What You'll Do

    • Create a safe, inclusive, and empowering learning space for students with a range of learning needs.

    • Deliver individualized instruction in a setting 3 learning setting.

    • Write and implement effective IEPs, conduct evaluations, and keep data current and compliant.

    • Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to meet each student's unique goals.

    • Serve as a case manager for 510 students, leading communication with families and the IEP team.

    • Support and coach paraprofessionals assigned to your students.

    • Collaborate closely with general education teachers, related service providers, and the broader SPED team.

    • Step into classroom support or substitute for other SPED staff when needed.

    • Use de-escalation strategies and restorative practices to guide students through behavioral challenges with respect and care.

    • Monitor academic, behavioral, and social-emotional progressand celebrate the wins, big and small.

    Who You Are

You're a teacher who believes that students with disabilities can and will succeed with the right support. You are:

    • Mission-driven. You believe in NECP's vision of educational equity and justice.

    • Detail-oriented. You stay on top of deadlines, documentation, and IEP timelines.

    • Relationship-centered. You build trust with students and families and lead with empathy.

    • Adaptable. You're flexible in your teaching approach, classroom strategies, and communication style.

    • Reflective. You seek feedback, adjust your practice, and always aim to grow.

    Required Qualifications

    • Licensed (or eligible to be licensed) as a Special Education teacher in Minnesota by time of hire

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills

    • Experience working with diverse learners and staff

    • Ability to manage timelines and meet all due process requirements

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Licensure in ABS, ASD, or DCD

    • Experience working with K8 students in an urban and/or multilingual setting

    • Fluency or proficiency in Spanish or Somali
