Position Summary
Tiverton Public Schools is seeking a Rhode Island certified Special Education Teacher to serve as a long-term substitute at Tiverton High School. This position supports a small group of primarily 9th-grade students who require both academic and social-emotional support in order to access the general education curriculum.
The teacher will provide instruction and support within co-taught general education classes and an academic support/lab setting, helping students remain organized, engaged, and successful in their coursework. The role includes collaboration with general education teachers, special educators, and related service providers to ensure students’ IEP accommodations and goals are implemented effectively.
Responsibilities
Provide instructional support to students with disabilities in co-taught general education classes and academic lab periods
Support students in developing organization, executive functioning, and study skills
Implement IEP accommodations, modifications, and instructional strategies
Collaborate with general education teachers and the special education team to support student progress
Maintain brief documentation of instructional supports and student participation
Foster a supportive and structured learning environment that promotes student engagement and independence
