Job Description
The PreK–Grade 8 ESY Special Education Teacher Assistant supports students with disabilities during the Tiverton Public Schools Extended School Year program. Under the direction of the ESY Special Educator and related service providers, the Teacher Assistant provides instructional, behavioral, communication, and personal care support to help students maintain critical skills and access ESY instruction.
Our program will run:
From: 8:30am - 11:00am
Dates: June 23, July 16 (T, W, Th)

Job Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required
RIDE Paraprofessional/ Teacher Assistant certification
Successful completion of district background check and fingerprinting
SafetyCare/ crisis prevention training preferred
Required Experience
Experience working with children with disabilities in school or program settings
Experience supporting students with academic and behavioral needs
Experience following teacher-directed instructional plans
Experience supporting communication and social skill development
Experience with data collection and documentation preferred
Core Responsibilities
Support implementation of IEP services and ESY instructional activities
Work with students individually and in small groups under teacher direction
Provide academic and functional skill support
Implement behavior support and reinforcement plans
Support student regulation and engagement during instruction and transitions
Assist with communication supports (visuals, AAC, prompts)
Collect simple data on student performance and behavior as directed
Support classroom routines and structured schedules
Assist with supervision during arrival, dismissal, breaks, and transitions
Student Support Duties (As Assigned)
Provide sensory and regulation supports
Assist with adaptive equipment and materials
Support toileting, feeding, and personal care needs as assigned and trained
Assist with mobility and safety support
