Effective immediately, the Human Resources Department is accepting applications for the position of Work Based Learning Special Education Teacher at our High School for the 2025-2026 school year. This position is a 0.8 FTE that will work from 10:10 AM -3:00 PM each day. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package.
Salary Range: $44,929 - $102,918 Salary placement is based on education and experience as indicated in Teachers' Collectively Bargained Agreement.

Job Summary This position will provide instruction and support in the high school special education program and vocational and transition curriculum components including community volunteer and paid employment sites. The teacher will follow all due process requirements under the Individual with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Minnesota state statutes. This position works collaboratively with building staff, families, community partners, and students.
Job Functions
Provide direct instruction to support students of diverse learning levels and backgrounds in transition skills, including pre-employment skills
Provide coaching to students on-site at partner volunteer and workplace settings
Complete case management tasks for students on caseload (coordination of annual IEP meetings, evaluations and other due process tasks); Assurance of compliance with timelines;
Develop, implement, and evaluate progress monitoring systems for transition skills
Ability to network and build relationships with community partners and local businesses:
Work collaboratively with Vocational Rehabilitation Services Counselors to assist in the development of a coordinated student referral process to Rehabilitation Services
Coordinate and collaborate with local agencies for volunteer opportunities and job-related skill development
Coordinate and collaborate with agencies for student work site placements
Cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, staff, families and community members.
Demonstrate prompt, regular and reliable attendance.

Valid Minnesota teaching license in a Special Education field with a Teacher/Coordinator Work Based Learning license or endorsement; or
Authorization for the district to complete an Out of Field Permission (OFP) request; or
Ability to meet the Tier 1 or Tier 2 PELSB license guidelines.
Valid MN Driver's License and a driving record in good standing
Knowledge of vocational and transition skills curriculum and best practices.
Ability to network and build relationships with community partners and local businesses.
Excellent communication skills with families, students and staff.
Sensitivity and compassion for the needs and issues for families and students with disabilities.
Desire to provide assistance and advocacy to families and children with disabilities.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, families, and school personnel.
Knowledge of and understanding for the legal and ethical requirement to keep information about students and families confidential.

This position requires certification in van safety and requires driving a district van to support students with work-based learning opportunities.
