    Summary:
    The Special Education Teacher will provide specially designed instruction and support to elementary and secondary students across Autism, Emotional, Life Skills and Multiple Disabilities Support classrooms. Responsibilities include planning and delivering individualized and group instruction, developing and implementing IEPs, tracking student progress, collaborating with families and professionals, and maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment. This role is a key part of the educational and treatment team, supporting students’ academic, behavioral, and communication needs.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
    • Instruct individuals and groups in special education skill areas.
    • Provide specially designed instruction for eligible special education students.
    • Plan curriculum and lessons.
    • Evaluate and monitor student progress based on classroom performance, test scores, and observation of behavior.
    • Support objectives and interventions of the educational program.
    • Maintain safe physical environment of the classroom.
    • Maintain contact with parents of students and/or professionals concerning student progress.
    • When appropriate, develop IEPs addressing specific academic, behavioral, and speech needs of students
    • Prepare report cards, educational records, classroom observation records, and other documentation as required.
    • Function as integral member of treatment/IEP team, addressing needs of students.
     

    Qualifications:

     
    1. Education and Experience
      1. Bachelor's Degree in Special Education required
      2. Master’s Degree strongly preferred
      3. Experience working as a Special Education Teacher strongly preferred
    2. Professional Certifications
      1. PDE Special Education Certification PK-12 or PK-8 required
      2. Special Education Pk-12 certification preferred
     

    Schedule:
    7.5 hours a day; 190 days per year (194 year one; 191 year two)

    Salary (2026 - 2027 School-Year):
    Instructional I: $62,155 - $89,730/yr. 
    Instructional II: $64,834 - $93,324/yr. 
    Master's Degree: $69,353 - $101,911/yr. 
    Master's + 15: $72,740 - $105,924/yr. 
    Master's + 30: $74,415 - $107,845/yr. 
    *Placement on salary scale is commensurate with years of experience in a relevant role*
