SUBSTITUTE TEACHER (OR PAID COACH) APPLICATION PROCESS
Thank you for your interest in the position of substitute teacher (or paid coach) with the Greater Egg Harbor Regional High School District. Our district offers an “on call as needed” position to our substitute teachers at a flat rate of $150.00 per day, no benefits. Substitutes filling paraprofessional or secretary positions will receive a flat rate of $110.00 per day, no benefits. Board approved paid coaches will receive a stipend. All substitute teachers that do not accept at least 10 assignments for our district per school year may not be board approved for the upcoming school year and could be removed from our roster.
A prospective applicant must have either a NJ teaching certificate, a substitute certificate or be eligible to apply for a substitute certificate. To be eligible to apply for a substitute certificate, the applicant must have completed at least 30 college credits. ALL applicants must be cleared by the New Jersey Criminal History Review Unit for this district and be approved by our Board of Education. Substitute certificates issued from the State of NJ are valid for 5 years. A substitute teacher who has graduated from a specific school within the last three years may not be hired to work in the same building of that school.
A teaching or substitute certificate is also required for all paid coaches and unpaid volunteers. Unpaid clinicians are not required to obtain a substitute teacher certificate. If you plan to be a paid coach and do not hold a NJ teaching certificate, you are required to obtain a substitute teacher (or substitute nurse-see separate application) certificate. Paid coaches are not required to work as a substitute teacher but are eligible if they wish to also substitute teach.
