Description:
The Dobbs Ferry School District has an anticipated vacancy for a temporary (leave replacement) special education teacher at Springhurst Elementary School, effective August 31, 2026 - June 30, 2027. This position is responsible for teaching and maintaining a safe and healthy self-contained classroom for special education students.
The successful candidate will have experience teaching students with autism, intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, and speech/language impairments; working collaboratively with other teachers, related services providers, and teaching assistants; and experience organizing and implementing special classroom programming and instruction in literacy and our new mathematics.
We are seeking candidates with knowledge and experience with assistive technologies; experience with administering the NYS Alternate Assessment preferred but not required; skills in delivery of instructional guidance and supervision of Teaching Assistants and Aides.
Demonstrated experience/knowledge in the following areas, including scheduling of daily classroom activities, analyzing data to track progress in achieving IEP goals; developing Functional Behavior Assessments and developing and implementing Behavior Intervention Plans for each student, as needed; supervision of classroom staff; and establishing a positive relationship with family members and guardians.
NYSED certification Special Education K-12 or SWD All Grades; or SWD 1-6 and Birth - Grade 2.
