POSITION: PRESCHOOL LEAD PARAPROFESSIONAL (2025-2026 SCHOOL YEAR)

REQUIREMENTS:
Must complete a fingerprint/background screening.
Prior experience working with young children in an educational or childcare setting is preferred.
Knowledge of early childhood development principles is an advantage.
CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).

JOB DESCRIPTION: The following statements of essential functions and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of all personnel within this position. Actual duties and responsibilities may vary depending on building assignment and other factors determined with supervisor and/or building principal.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist the lead teacher in planning and implementing instructional activities, lessons, and classroom routines that align with preschool standards and goals.
Support the lead teacher in maintaining a well-organized, clean, and engaging learning environment.
Help supervise students during instructional activities, playtime, and outdoor activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.
Encourage children’s development in key areas such as language, motor skills, social skills, and early literacy and math.
Provide one-on-one or small group support to students who may need additional assistance or individualized attention.
Observe and document children’s progress, behavior, and social interactions, sharing insights with the lead teacher to support student development.
Assist in managing classroom behavior, applying consistent, positive behavior management strategies.
Support children in resolving conflicts, developing problem-solving skills, and fostering respectful, cooperative behavior.
Supervise children to ensure they are following classroom and school safety guidelines.
Assist with daily routines, including snack time, rest time, bathroom breaks, and handwashing to promote hygiene and self-care skills.
Follow safety protocols and assist in emergency situations as needed.
Support the lead teacher in maintaining open and positive communication with parents and guardians about student progress, activities, and any concerns.
Participate in parent-teacher conferences as needed to provide input on student development and classroom activities.
Help prepare classroom materials, set up activities, and organize learning centers.
Attend staff meetings and professional development sessions as required.
Set up any meetings dates/paperwork/sign up genius required for: Beginning of Year, Parent Teacher Conferences, Council Meetings.
Maintain licensing bulletin boards.
Assist with other duties as assigned by the lead teacher or school administration.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
Ability to stand, walk, sit on the floor, and actively engage with children for extended periods.
Work primarily takes place in a school setting, with occasional off-site meetings, trainings, or events.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 181 day calendar, 7.25 hours per day
