Description: Please understand that the position you receive may fall into one of these three different categories; 1.) School-wide Special Education Paraprofessional to assist classroom teachers and students with special education services across a variety of settings; including, but not limited to: School Campus, General Education, Resource, and Self-Contained Classrooms. 2.) Self-Contained Special Education Paraprofessional to assist the classroom teacher and students with special education services in a specialized instructional program. The paraprofessional will assist these students across a variety of settings; including but not limited to; school campus, General Education, Resource, and Self-Contained classrooms. 3.) 1:1 Paraprofessional Special Education Paraprofessional to assist a student with special education services. The paraprofessional will assist the student across a variety of settings; including but not limited to; School campus, General Education, Resource, and Self-Contained classrooms.
Location: Floyd Elementary School
Hours: Hours vary by position
Salary Range: $21.64- $26.21 per hour
Job Goal: To assist teaching staff and/or special education, early childhood, speech, 504 plan students in a variety of instructional activities during the instructional school day.
Qualifications:
Minimum High School diploma or equivalent
Paraprofessional requirements as per ESSA (48 College Credits or Passing ETS Paraprofessional Assessment, Proof of Qualification to be Uploaded in Application)
Correct English usage and grammar
Knowledge of educational, behavioral and emotional principles and techniques
Ability to relate to adults and children of all ages, particularly those with a disabling condition
Current CPR certification and First Aid training
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Ability to assist with toileting needs
Successful candidate may be required to attend training provided by the district in the following areas:
Modifications and accommodations for students with Autism and Emotional Disabilities
Dealing with a variety of behaviors (emotional regulations)
Visual scheduling, communications systems, etc
Working with accommodations within integrated settings
Non-violent Crisis Intervention
