TITLE: Dedicated Aide Paraprofessional (High Needs)
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Building Principal or Designee
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED
Experience working with special needs students preferred.
Able to maintain confidentiality about all aspects of the student, their progress and parental information.
Knowledge of general office equipment preferred.
Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training preferred or willing to train
CPR Training preferred or willing to train
JOB GOAL: The Dedicated Aide is a special position within the district that requires confidentiality, patience, a positive attitude, flexibility, and the ability to give positive feedback for small accomplishments as they are gained by the student on a daily basis.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Works directly with special needs students, as assigned by the building principal
Able to follow directions from the supervising teacher
Able to read and help assist the student in writing assignments as deemed necessary by the supervising teacher/director.
Prepare instructional art work, such as posters, bulletin boards, displays, charts and visual aids
Administer or assist with tests and grade papers
Monitor student behavior on playground during lunch and recess
Carefully documents student achievement and behavior for the supervising teacher
Recognizes oneself as a role model and acts accordingly.
Records work completed by the student and makes records available to the supervising teacher
Communicates effectively with the supervising teacher and parents as deemed appropriate by the supervising teacher
Makes referrals about concerns to the appropriate staff members within the district
Fosters and maintains a professional relationship with co-workers
Arrives and leaves at pre-determined times as determined by the building principal and/or supervising teacher
Helps maintain the orderliness and cleanliness of the classroom environment
Assists in typing, operating office equipment (copier), organizing teaching materials and assisting with grades and reports as required by the supervising teacher
Daily contact with persons in the same work unit or building, persons in other departments or buildings, students and parents to provide service
Other duties as assigned by direct supervisor or designee
SPECIAL NOTES:
PHYSICAL DEMANDS - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, by one’s self. WORK ENVIRONMENT - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. MENTAL FUNCTIONS - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to analyze, communicate and use interpersonal skills. Frequently required to compare, copy, coordinate, instruct, compute and compile. Occasionally required to synthesize, evaluate and negotiate. |

Salary and work year as described in district policy.
EVALUATION: Performance of the Dedicated Aide will be evaluated annually by the building principal following the evaluation criteria as written in the RD-2 Policy Manual. (Classified Staff Evaluation Form).
