WSSD Summer Panthers Program Special Education Teachers

 

 

The Extended School Year Summer Panthers Program is designed for students, ages 5-22, with complex needs.  The extended school year program has been designed to include both academic instruction, community based instruction, related services and recreational/socialization activities.  The program runs 6 hours (8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.) per day, four days a week, for five consecutive weeks. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily classroom instruction, to both large and small groups
  • Coordinate all services for students assigned to the classroom
  • Participate in all aspects of ESY program for Summer Panthers
  • Implement IEP goals for special education students; write progress reports

Qualifications:

  • Valid Pennsylvania Instructional I or II Certificate in special education
  • Ability to relate and communicate effectively with colleagues, parents, and students
  • Knowledge and experience working with students with mental retardation and with multiple disabilities
  • Wallingford-Swarthmore School District employee preferred
  • Must be able to commit to all scheduled days

Schedule:

  • June 22 through July 23, 2026 (5 weeks); when needed and scheduled; Monday through Thursday
  • Upt to 6 hours (8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.) per day Secondary; 8:30AM -2:30PM - Elementary
  • Note:  There will be meetings prior to the start of the program, one is virtual and the other in person on June 20, 2024 8:00 - 2:00

Salary:

 From June 22 through June 30, the $50.00 per hour rate will apply (based on 6 days of attendance).  Due to a change in the CBA, July 1 through July 23, the $52.00 per hour rate will apply to the remaining 14 days).
