Youth Treatment Counselors (YTC's)– All Shifts: day, evening, overnight (Residential and School-Based)

We are seeking experienced Youth Treatment Counselors in our School-Based (Day Treatment) and Residential programs, and have several shift options available:

  • Day
  • Mid-Shift/Evening
  • Overnight

All shift get a new Hire Sign on Bonus: $500 after 90 days; additional $1000 after 6 months

As direct care staff in our Residential or Day Treatment Programs you work to build meaningful and healthy relationships with each child we support during their stay. YTCs’ provide support though clients meals, Transportation, daily hygiene guidance, age-appropriate activities, and overall adherence to milieu structure. You will also provide crisis de-escalation and behavior support interventions. 

During this time, your meaningful commitment to their experience in the Residential or Day Treatment Programs is making it possible for TCC clients with intellectual and Development Disabilities, (IDD) needs to access their community and create a meaningful and healthy relationships with their peers, staff, and care givers. You will work collaboratively with a group of professionals to support the clients’ individual needs for maximum results. 

The Youth Treatment Counselor (YTC) is responsible for supporting a therapeutic residential/day treatment program that fosters youth resilience and healing, informed by best practices and a deep understanding of trauma informed care. This position will be responsible for the supervision, engagement and support of children in a therapeutic residential setting by providing guidance, structure, routine and activities that align with agency values and therapeutic treatment goals. A successful YTC will have prior experience working with children with trauma, children with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities or a strong desire to learn not only how to support children with trauma and intellectual disabilities, but a willingness to learn and implement the tenants of trauma informed care and therapeutic intervention strategies. 

About Our Facility School- Day Treatment: 

All children deserve the right educational support to become lifelong learners and successful adults! Some children thrive in the public school setting while others require higher levels of support and a customized education at school. Our K-12 Day Treatment school is fully accredited with a 4:1 student-to-staff ratio that integrates social, emotional, behavioral, and academic learning.

  •  Assist children in working towards self-directed treatment goals and IEP goals.
  • Collaborate with internal and external treatment team on progress and barriers as displayed in the school-based setting.
  • Provide clean, safe, and therapeutic learning environments by providing one on one tutoring, small group instruction, and maintenance of student engagement in academic and social emotional learning.
  • Follows all plans and directives from the interdisciplinary team; including but not limited to, the clients treatment plan, IEP, individualized crisis management plan and safety plan.
  • Consistently implements positive behavior supports through a strengths-based lens.
  • Completes required documentation in a timely and detailed manner. 
  • Completes required trainings as directed by Supervisor or Manager.
  • Provide basic personal care/ADL support as needed or directed by a child’s treatment plan.
  • Act as a mentor to the children through problem solving and role modeling.

Physical Requirements for all roles

  • Must be able to lift 25/50 lbs. or more. 
  • Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures such as kneeling, squatting, crawling, sitting, standing for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to perform or assist with physical behavioral interventions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA degree in a Human Services field (preferred, but not required), but an equivalent combination of education and experience IS required.
  • Must have a minimum of 1 year experience working with children with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD), to include complex behavior support needs. 
  • Must be willing to contribute to a positive home environment for children and collaborative working relationships with TCC staff. 
  • All candidates must have or qualify to obtain a current Colorado driver license. (Must obtain Colorado license within 30 days of employment.) 
  • All positions require a criminal CBI background check, FBI fingerprint check, State of CO child abuse check, DMV driving record check, pre-employment drug test, pre-employment physical, academic credential verification, and reference check. 
  • Experience in a residential setting or with children with developmental disabilities preferred. 
  • Motivation to obtain specialized training that would enhance your daily work and professional development preferred. 
  • Must be willing to complete training in physical behavior intervention strategies
  • QMAP through an approved state training entity preferred but not required if applicant is willing to take training with an approved entity
