Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team at Lincoln Elementary School as a Behavior Paraprofessional. This full-time position involves providing support to students with behavioral challenges, promoting positive behavior, and assisting in the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs). The ideal candidate will work closely with teachers, special education staff, and families to create a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.

Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and implementation of behavior intervention plans tailored to individual student needs.
- Monitor and document student behavior, progress, and responses to interventions.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students exhibiting challenging behaviors, fostering positive social interactions and emotional regulation.
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff to create a structured and supportive classroom environment.
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and parents to promote understanding and collaboration.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities as required.
- Assist with classroom management and support teachers in maintaining a positive and productive learning atmosphere.
- Implement strategies to de-escalate conflicts and manage crises effectively.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with students, families, and staff.
- Support students during transitions between classes, lunch, and recess to ensure safety and appropriate behavior.

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; 2 years of college, an AA degree, or successfully completed the ParaPro Assessment (Praxis Exam).
- Experience working with children, particularly those with behavioral challenges or special needs, is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques and strategies.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the development of children.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational software.
- Ability to pass background checks and obtain any necessary certifications or training required by the school or district.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students and the school environment.

This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The employment “at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and approved by the Board of Trustees of District 411.
 
Starting Salary Range:  $17.62+ per hour depending on experience

Employment is contingent upon board approval and successful completion of federal background check and drug-free workplace pre-employment screening.
