  •   Boyne City Public Schools has two openings for an Elementary Special Education Paraprofessional, Monday through Friday, 5.5 hours per day, for the 2025/26 school year.  

    Qualifications:
    1. An associate’s degree or two years of study at an institution of higher education, and the ability to meet the State of Michigan “Highly Qualified” Paraprofessional requirements.  
    2. Experience working with children, patience, and strong general language arts and math knowledge.  
    3. Ability to work under the supervision of a teacher, show initiative when appropriate, and direct small group work sessions.
    4. Desire to work with small groups of children or an individual student with specific support needs. 

    Reports to: Elementary School Principal

    Job Goal: Perform instructional paraprofessional duties and/or deliver direct services to students or parents. Serve in a position where a teacher or another professional is responsible for designing and implementing educational programs and services.

    Performance Responsibilities:
    1. Directed by instructional personnel for the presentation of learning materials and instructional exercises.
    2. Discuss assigned duties with classroom teachers to coordinate instructional efforts.  
    3. Present subject matter to students under the direction and guidance of teachers.
    4. Be aware and assist with the students' medical and/or physical needs as directed.
    5. Tutor and assist children individually or in small groups (at the teacher's request) to help them master assignments and reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers.  
    6. Assist in administering pre- and post-testing of standardized tests.
    7. Assist teacher in maintaining discipline and other functions.
    8. Enforce administrative policies and rules governing students.  
    9. Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, playgrounds, gymnasiums, or on field trips.
    10. Observe students’ performance and record relevant data to assess progress.
    11. Instruct and monitor students using and caring for equipment and materials to prevent injuries and damage.  
    12. Other duties as assigned

    Terms of Employment: 2025/26 school year. BCESPA Contract
