K-2 SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER

Description:

Merritt Elementary School is seeking a Special Education Teacher to plan, organize and implement a classroom environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential while promoting positive relationships between students, parents, and staff members. Work is performed under the supervision of the Building Principal and assisted by the Special Education Director.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIREMENTS:

• Degree from an accredited college or university
• Applicant must be Highly Qualified and Endorsed for this position with a Val Michigan Teaching Certificate, Cognitive Impairment (SA), Emotional Impairment (SE), Learning Disabilities (SM), or Autism (SV) endorsement

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate learning, develop schemes of work, lesson plans, and tests aligned with the district-provided curriculum, and instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
• Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction
• Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies and school regulations
• Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs ▪ Observe and evaluate students performance and development
• Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job duty
