Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Secondary Special Education Teacher to join our team for the upcoming 2026/2027 school year. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing individualized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs in a secondary school setting. This role requires a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment that encourages student growth and development.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and support staff to ensure effective integration of students with disabilities into the general education curriculum.
- Assess and monitor student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as needed to promote academic success.
- Provide direct instruction in academic subjects, life skills, and social skills to support students' overall development.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, empathy, and collaboration among students.
- Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders regarding student progress and needs.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education and instructional strategies.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, behavior, and IEP documentation.
- Advocate for students' rights and needs within the school and community.
- Engage in collaborative problem-solving with colleagues to enhance the educational experience for all students.

Requirements

- Experience supporting transition planning, high school and beyond plans, executive functioning, or inclusive instructional models.
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education.
- Valid state certification in Special Education for secondary education.
- Strong understanding of IEP development, implementation, and compliance with special education laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance instruction and student engagement.
- Experience working with middle and/or high school students.
