    JOB DESCRIPTION:
     
    The instructional paraprofessional works closely with administrators and other professional staff to assist in a multitude of activities that take place daily.  These activities may include, but are not necessarily limited to, lunch duty, bus duty, work in the Library Media Center, and work in the planning room.  This particular position will work (2) hours lunchroom duties and (1) hour in the planning room.

    DISTRICT OVERVIEW:

    Livonia Public Schools employs approximately 1,800 staff members, serving approximately 13,200 students pre-K – post secondary.  There are 15 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, 3 high schools, 1 career technical center, 1 early childhood center and 1 vocational and transition center in the School District.  The annual budget for Livonia Public Schools is $176 million, with a state funding of $9,600 per pupil.

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
     
    1.       Establish rapport with students and work with them in a manner prescribed by the professional staff to improve their behavioral and/or academic skills.
    2.       Work with students individually in small groups, or large groups in various school settings, such as cafeteria, library, and planning room.
    3.       Assist in the Library Media Center with filing, shelving of books, maintenance of book fine lists, etc.
    4.       Utilize patience, judgment and flexibility in dealing with students.
     
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
     
    1.       Possesses at least a high school diploma.
    2.       Has evidence of previous successful experiences working with students.
    3.       Is punctual and regular in attendance.
    4.       Exhibits appropriate dress and appearance in keeping with the school environment.
     
    HOURS OF EMPLOYMENT:  The paraprofessional will work from 10:45 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. or as arranged by the building administrator.    
     
    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
     
    The employee's salary and working conditions are in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Professional Agreement between the Livonia Public Schools School District and the Livonia Paraprofessionals' Association.
