What are the primary duties and responsibilities?   

  • Provide individual or small group instruction in music theory, instrument technique, and/or vocal performance. 
  • Assess students’ skill levels and develop personalized lesson plans to support their musical growth. 
  • Teach proper techniques for playing instruments (e.g., piano, guitar, violin) or singing, depending on specialty. 
  • Prepare students for performances, auditions, or exams by offering constructive feedback and practice strategies. 
  • Foster a love and appreciation for music through engaging and age-appropriate instruction. 
  • Track student progress and adjust lesson content to match learning pace and goals. 
  • Encourage regular practice habits and provide tools or resources to support independent learning. 
  • Maintain a safe, respectful, and motivating learning environment. 
  • Communicate regularly with students and/or parents about progress, challenges, and achievements. Stay up to date with current music education practices and repertoire relevant to student needs.

What do you bring? 

  • A Certified Music Teacher.
  • Willingness to go through (and pass!) the required clearances and training to ensure the safety and security of our children, including: four clearances, mandated reporter training, a physical, and TB test. This can typically be accomplished within a week to get you started. 
  • Capacity for sitting, standing, walking, bending and stopping for long periods of time, as these happen throughout the eight-hour day.
