    Job Summary:
    Careerline Tech Center in Holland, MI is seeking a skilled and motivated Auto Body Program Para-Professional to assist with the instructional and operational needs of the Collision Repair & Refinishing program. The Para-Professional will work under the direction of the instructor, supporting a professional, hands-on learning environment that reflects the expectations of the automotive collision repair industry. This position also includes providing support for students requiring accommodations.

     

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Assist the lead instructor in delivering the collision repair curriculum, including safety procedures, tool usage, repair techniques, refinishing processes, and hands-on skill development.
    • Provide individualized or small group support to reinforce concepts and skills taught in class.
    • Supervise students during classroom, shop/lab, and off-site learning activities.
    • Support students requiring accommodations by assisting with modified instruction, ensuring accessibility, and following documented support plans (e.g., IEPs or 504 Plans).
    • Maintain accurate documentation related to student accommodations and collaborate with the instructor and support staff to ensure compliance with school and state policies.
    • Monitor and maintain shop safety protocols, cleanliness, and organization.
    • Assist in the preparation and setup of lab projects, materials, and equipment.
    • Collaborate with the instructor to develop engaging learning activities and reinforce industry best practices.
    • Demonstrate reliability, initiative, and a commitment to student success.
    • Participate in staff meetings and professional development as required.
    • Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

     

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Education: A minimum of 60 college credit hours from an accredited institution OR Annual Career Authorization eligibility by having 4,000 hours of recent and relevant work experience in collision repair or refinishing within the past 6 years (must be documented and verified).
    • Experience: Prior experience in automotive collision repair, refinishing, or related field. Experience working with high school students is preferred.
    • Certifications: Industry certifications such as I-CAR, ASE, or similar are preferred.
    • Technology: Familiarity with Google Workspace and/or industry-specific software is preferred.

     

    Skills & Abilities:
    • Strong knowledge of collision repair and refinishing techniques, tools, and industry safety procedures.
    • Ability to support and engage students in a hands-on, technical learning environment.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with students, staff, and parents.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with diverse student populations, including those with special needs.
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and meet deadlines.
    • Commitment to professionalism, flexibility, and collaboration.
    • Understanding of student accommodations and ability to assist in implementing modifications, with familiarity in documentation procedures for IEPs and 504 Plans.
    • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
    • Ability to follow lesson plans and instructional guidance from the lead instructor.
    • Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and inclusive shop environment.
