Minimum Qualifications 

  • Must have completed at least one of the following:
    • 60 college credit hours with a minimum of 9 hours in early childhood, child development, or child/family related courses 
    • Associate’s degree or higher in early childhood education or child development 
    • Completed approved 20 hour Substitute Certificate Course
    • Paraprofessional Assessment 

 

Nice-to-Haves- Skills and qualities that are a plus but not necessarily a requirement

  • Successful experience in an elementary or middle school setting 
  • Fluency in French, Mandarin, or Spanish 

 

Responsibilities

  • Implement teacher-created lessons for individuals or small groups.
  • Implement student accommodations and modifications according to IEPs.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to meet the holistic needs of assigned students.
  • Assist students with mobility needs (may involve lifting, toileting, etc.)
  • Assist with appropriate behavior intervention, as directed by the teacher/supervisor
  • Escort students safely from place to place within the school setting.
  • Aid in the administration of teacher, District, and state assessments.
  • Collect data on student progress as directed by the teacher.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student and family information with regards to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

The annual salary for this position is competitive and rages from $32,568 – $38,173. Your salary would be based on the number of years of experience you have. SLLIS also offers the following:
