Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Paraprofessional to support English Learners at Endeavour K-8. This full-time position involves working closely with teachers and students to enhance the learning experience of students whose primary language is not English. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering a positive and inclusive educational environment, helping students develop their language skills, and facilitating their academic success.
Responsibilities
- Assist classroom teachers in implementing instructional strategies tailored to English Learners.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students in various subjects, focusing on language development and comprehension.
- Help create and adapt instructional materials to meet the diverse needs of English Learners.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as needed.
- Facilitate communication between students and teachers, ensuring that language barriers are minimized.
- Support students in developing social skills and cultural understanding within the classroom setting.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills related to teaching English Learners.
- Collaborate with other staff members, including special education and ESL teachers, to support student needs.
- Maintain a positive and safe learning environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
- Assist with classroom management and organization to ensure a conducive learning atmosphere.
- Screen new students and help proctor WIDA.
Requirements
- An associate degree or higher preferred or willing to take and pass the paraprofessional ETS assessment.
- Experience working with English Learners or in an educational setting is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
- Knowledge of second language acquisition principles and strategies for supporting English Learners.
- Proficiency in a second language is a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and adapt to various instructional approaches.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Ability to pass background checks as required by the school district.
