Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team at Bethalto East Primary School as a Pre-K Paraprofessional. This full-time position involves supporting the educational and developmental needs of young children in a pre-kindergarten environment. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with teachers to create a nurturing and engaging learning atmosphere that promotes the growth and well-being of each child.
Responsibilities
- Assist the lead teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and educational activities tailored to the developmental needs of pre-kindergarten students.
- Provide individualized support to students, including those with special needs, to enhance their learning experiences.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages social interaction and cooperation among students.
- Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and participation, reporting any concerns to the lead teacher.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom space, ensuring that materials and resources are readily available.
- Assist with classroom management and discipline, promoting positive behavior and conflict resolution among students.
- Collaborate with other staff members, parents, and specialists to support the holistic development of each child.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and training sessions as required.
- Supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess, and other non-instructional periods to ensure their safety and well-being.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the lead teacher or school administration.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with young children, particularly in a classroom setting, is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with young children.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and follow directions from the lead teacher.
- A valid Paraprofessional License issued by IL, registered in Madison County or the ability to obtain the license prior to start date
Minimum Requirements for Paraprofessional License
One of the following required:
• Associate’s degree or higher
• 60 semester hours of coursework
• High School Diploma or GED and a score of 460 or higher on the ETS Parapro
• High School Diploma or GED and the following scores on the ACT Workkeys
