Qualifications: - Physical ability to perform Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI).
- Physical ability to lift/transfer students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Ability to follow lesson plans with individual or small groups
2. Ability to independently implement complex behavior plans.
3. Ability to provide behavior support calmly and effectively.
4. Ability to problem solve and adapt quickly in a changing environment.
5. Work under the supervision of the teacher of the categorical program.
6. Lead a reading, writing, and math group.
7. Assist in presentation of lessons.
8. Assist in implementing behavior plans (i.e., document behavior on point sheet).
9. Assist/monitor students for morning and afternoon arrival and departure.
10. Provide support and accommodations in general education classroom and specials as specified in the IEP.
11. Assist students in the cafeteria by fostering independence with eating, time management, and serving food (daily).
12. Assist with hygiene needs of students (i.e., toileting, transferring, feminine needs, etc.).
13. Monitor and provide social support/discipline during unstructured time.
14. Assist in any other miscellaneous functions as required by building administrator.
15. Ability to manage multiple transitions of students and materials between classrooms on a daily basis.
16. Flexibility with a changing schedule.
17. Prepare rooms and materials for daily activities.
18. Assist in making materials for the classroom.
19. Keep track of supplies and assist in the ordering of the same.
20. Assist with keeping records and files.
21. Accompany teacher and/or students on field trips.
22. Regular attendance is an essential function of the job.
