Provide case management, specialized instruction, and consultation services to children identified with educational disabilities. The successful candidate will serve as a consultant and provider of direct services in order to implement IEP goals and objectives for students with disabilities in a variety of settings.
Maintain accurate and complete student records and prepare reports on students and activities as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations. Oversee the special education process and all paperwork for students (referral, evaluation, eligibility, IEP, progress, and re-evaluations)
Collaborate with classroom teachers and monitor paraeducators to ensure compliance with IEPs and adherence to inclusive special education law. Conduct academic evaluations as well as classroom observations in order to develop reports as part of the evaluation process and IEP development.
Act as a member of an interdisciplinary team when designing/delivering services to children with disabilities. Teach social-emotional skills, employing techniques such as behavior modification and positive reinforcement. Modify the general education curriculum for children with special needs based upon a variety of instructional techniques and technologies. Work collaboratively with classroom teachers to implement IEP accommodations. Develop data tracking systems to monitor progress towards IEP goals & objectives. Promote parent/guardian involvement in their child’s educational program.
Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence. Collaborate with other teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and revision of special services.
