Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at EC Middle / High School on a temporary, full-time basis. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment that meets the diverse needs of students with disabilities. This position requires a strong understanding of special education practices, collaboration with staff, and a passion for helping students achieve their fullest potential.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and best practices.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with varying disabilities, adapting teaching methods and materials to accommodate individual learning styles.
- Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as needed to promote academic and social growth.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, behavior, and progress toward IEP goals.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of IEPs and assessments.
- Advocate for students’ needs and rights, ensuring they receive appropriate resources and support.
- Stay current with special education laws, trends, and best practices through professional development and collaboration with colleagues.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and any concerns that may arise.
- Create a positive and engaging classroom environment that fosters respect, diversity, and inclusion.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid state certification in Special Education.
- Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of educators, parents, and support staff.
- Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance instruction and student learning.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous improvement in teaching practices.
