Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team at Lybrook Elementary as part of our instructional support staff. This part-time position is designed for individuals who are passionate about education and committed to fostering a positive learning environment for elementary students. The successful candidate will assist teachers in providing high-quality educational experiences and support to students, ensuring that each child has the opportunity to succeed academically and socially.
Responsibilities
- Assist classroom teachers in implementing lesson plans and instructional activities.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students who require additional assistance.
- Monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback to teachers as needed.
- Help prepare instructional materials and resources for classroom activities.
- Supervise students during lunch, recess, and other non-instructional times to ensure safety and positive behavior.
- Support students with special needs by implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and accommodations.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
- Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents regarding student progress and needs.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to instructional support.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher or school administration.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in education or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience working with children in an educational setting is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers and staff.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help students succeed.
- Ability to follow directions and adapt to the needs of the classroom and individual students.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology.
- Ability to lift and assist students as needed.
- Must pass background checks and meet any state or district requirements for paraprofessional staff.
