Position Summary 

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to support students with physical disabilities in a high school setting. The SE Paraprofessional will work closely with teachers and other staff to provide assistance to students needing extra medical attention. This position is benefit eligible working 7:15-2:45pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch, Mon-Fri, student days only, approximately 35 hours per week.

 Responsibilities

 ·         Maintain a safe and positive learning environment, addressing any behavioral issues in accordance with school policies.

·         Collaborate with other education professionals to support student needs.

·         Assist students academically, behaviorally, and medically in a school setting.

·         Assistance with daily care and support with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene & grooming, toileting, dressing, and feeding.

·         Preparation and adaptation of instructional materials under the direction of the teachers.

·         Implementation of students’ academic, medical and positive behavioral support plans.

·         Support students during instructional and non-instructional activities.

·         Support other school functions as needed.

 Qualifications

 ·         A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

·         An associate degree or higher in education, or passing ETS Paraprofessional exam score, is preferred.

·         Previous experience working with children with medical needs is highly desirable.

·         Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help students succeed.

·         Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

·         Must pass background checks and comply with state and district requirements for working with students.

 Physical Requirements

 ·         Ability to stand, bend, reach, and move about the building and campus to assist students.

·         May require an employee to lift and/or move heavy objects.

·         May require assistance with daily care and basic medical support such as diabetic monitoring and other medical needs such as toiletry and hygiene needs.
