We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at RW Combs Elementary. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with students with diverse learning needs and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive educational environment. This full-time position involves developing individualized education plans (IEPs), implementing effective teaching strategies, and collaborating with parents and staff to ensure each student reaches their full potential.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
- Assess students’ progress and adapt instructional methods to meet their unique learning needs.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and support staff to facilitate effective learning experiences.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress and discuss strategies for support at home.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance and documentation required for compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and stay informed about best practices in special education.
- Advocate for students’ needs and rights within the school community.
- Foster social skills and emotional development through structured activities and interventions.
- Assist in the development and implementation of behavioral intervention plans as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid state teaching certification in Special Education.
- Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting.
- Strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to create and implement engaging lesson plans tailored to individual learning styles.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help students succeed.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
