Special Education Teacher β West Perry Elementary Job Duties
- Provide specialized instruction to students with disabilities in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Develop, implement, and maintain IEPs, including goals, accommodations, modifications, and progress monitoring
- Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure appropriate instructional support and classroom accommodations
- Deliver small group, co-teaching, inclusion, and/or resource instruction based on student needs
- Conduct ongoing assessments and collect data to monitor student academic and behavioral progress
- Maintain accurate special education records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and district regulations
- Participate in ARC/IEP meetings and communicate effectively with parents, staff, and outside service providers
- Develop and implement behavior intervention plans and positive behavior supports when needed
- Adapt curriculum, instructional materials, and classroom activities to meet individual student needs
- Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies and assistive technology to support student learning
- Coordinate related services with speech therapists, counselors, occupational therapists, and other specialists
- Support students in developing academic, social, emotional, and functional life skills
- Supervise and collaborate with instructional assistants and paraprofessionals
- Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment
- Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and school improvement activities
- Assist with state and district testing accommodations and documentation
- Build positive relationships with students, families, staff, and community stakeholders
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or district administration
